As you know from my post, Why SCTC Is Becoming a Lifestyle Blog, I have been dying to share some of my beauty secrets with all of you.
Today, I am starting out by sharing what I have learned the past month about minimizing pores (which is one of my May goals if you remember!).
My nose pores have always been HUGE – as in my nose looks like it is a mini-version of the Grand Canyon with all its hole-looking pores on it. But in the past few months, I’ve noticed large pores also on my forehead, so I knew they HAD TO GO.
First, I tried to find a good foundation primer to see if that would help. Since I am a poor college student, I started out by searching drug-store brands and bought the Maybelline: Baby Skin – Instant Pore Eraser Primer ($6.99). I really liked how smooth the primer made my face feel, and my foundation glided on my face easily. But it seemed like my foundation didn’t stay on as long as I thought it should. Even though I did think it was a good product, I went on the search for another primer to see if I could find something better. That’s when I remembered that I had a sample of Benefit Cosmetics: POREfessional Face Primer ($31.00 for full size), so I tried it out with the same foundation I was using. And wow, did it live up to my expectations! Now, I use this primer everyday. My nose pores seem to completely erase once I apply my primer before my foundation. Also, it keeps my foundation on longer than most drug store primers that I have tried. Even though I hate to spend so much money on just a PRIMER (ugh), I think this product is worth it in order to hide my huge pores.
To try to minimize my pores and to prevent them from expanding any more, I went on the search for a good face mask. I did some research on Pinterest, and I discovered that many people have found success with Formula 10.0.6: Pores Be Pure Skin-Clarifying Mask ($6.99). Impressed by the price, I decided to go to Ulta to pick up one for myself. And oh my word, the difference in my face after the first use had me hooked. Not only did it make my pores shrink, but my face seemed to glow like never before. I don’t think I’ve used a better face mask in my life. Since I liked this one so much, I decided to try another mask from the same company called Three Times Sublime: 3 in 1 Blackhead Wash + Scrub + Mask that I would recommend if you have stubborn blackheads like I do.
To finish off my makeup look, I like to spray on my NYX: Matte Finish Setting Spray. This helps the extra oils on my nose and forehead from making my face so shiny throughout the day.
While using these products together for the past couple of weeks, I have noticed improvement in the pore sizes on both my nose and forehead. If I didn’t think these products were worth purchasing, I would let you all know, but I am confident in the products that I have recommended. (Also, in case you were wondering, this is NOT a sponsored post. I researched and bought all of the above products on my own.)
I hope this helps my fellow “big-pore” ladies out there! Happy minimizing!
